This week at the DATA Farm, Dr. Erin Porter’s Advanced Irrigation class met with members of UGA’s Ag Water team to learn about auditing an irrigation pivot. David Hall, the Southeast Regional Water Educator, led the students through the process of auditing the pivot that irrigates North and South Pivot fields. The students also performed an audit of ABAC’s main farm pivot. Phillip Edwards, the Southwest Regional Water Agent, and Daniel Lyon, the Southwest Regional Water Educator led this second audit. These audits of pivot performance ensure water will be distributed correctly on the fields during this upcoming season.

Upcoming Week

Operations: Monitor ryegrass response to nitrogen application; apply 50 lb/acre 18% liquid nitrogen to the cover crops in North Pivot and West Field to stimulate growth.
