The week of 3/11 started off with some actual field work! The cover crop in North Pivotwas sprayed with herbicide to terminate it in preparation for planting next week (Figure 1). For the pre-plant fertilizer, we chose option 4 from the corn crop plan, because it addresses nutrient variability and is economical from a cost and time standpoint. Ty–Ty Ag made a blend of fertilizer that we applied on Thursday. The next operation will bethesecond pass of a single product to address additionalphosphorous needs for two zones in the field. Details for all these applications are documented in the corn crop plan.
The RealmFive weather station components were assembled and installed at the DATA Farm. The website team was given access to the RealmFive site to start working on the API to bring the data in. The weather station is shown in Figure 2.
Ty Ty Ag came out Wednesday to apply 18-0-0-3 on Front Field and South Pivot to finish out the remaining 50 lb./ac. of nitrogen the ryegrass needed.
A UGA crew came out on Thursday to start construction on the automated UAV
